Amnesty chief calls for release of Gaza hospital director Abu Safia Agnes Callamard, secretary general of Amnesty International, has called on Israel to release Dr Hussam Abu Safia, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, following reports that he was transferred to solitary confinement in Nafha Prison. In a post on X, Callamard questioned the treatment of the detained physician and criticised what she described as a lack of accountability. “Dr Hussam Abu Safia should be with his loved ones, and caring for the many many people in need of his skills.
