Centcom claims shipping lanes open in Hormuz Strait The US Central Command (Centcom) said Thursday that internationally recognised shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz are open after its forces cleared sea mines. "We have successfully cleared sea mines in the Strait's international shipping lanes that were laid months ago by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps," army commander Brad Cooper said in a video on posted on X. "Internationally recognized transit routes in the Strait are free of Iranian sea mines," he added, and claimed that US forces assisted nearly 1,500 commercial vessels in transiting the strategic waterway in the last several months "Bottom line, today, international shipping lanes are open and momentum is building.
