Centcom says US launches strikes on Iran after IRGC hits container in Hormuz
Centcom says US launches strikes on Iran after IRGC hits container in Hormuz The United States Central Command (Centcom) said early Sunday morning that its forces began launching a third round of strikes on Iran this week after Iran’s IRGC attacked a Cyprus-flagged container transiting the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on X, Centcom said a civilian crew member of M/V GFS Galaxy was missing, and the vessel is unable to continue the journey due to an onboard fire and significant engine-room damage. “Iran was provided yet another opportunity to demonstrate adherence to the Memorandum of Understanding after being held accountable for earlier attacks on commercial vessels, but has again failed,” the Centcom statement said.
