Chinese President Xi calls for diplomatic solution to Middle East crisis Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for a diplomatic solution to the Middle East crisis during talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II in Beijing on Monday. “China has always advocated for a comprehensive ceasefire [and] resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means,” Xi said, according to China's foreign ministry. He stressed that “the sovereignty and security of regional countries including Jordan should be respected”, while highlighting Jordan's “unique and important role in the region”.
