EU ‘strongly condemns’ authorisation of record number of new Israeli settlements in West Bank
EU ‘strongly condemns’ authorisation of record number of new Israeli settlements in West Bank The European Union released a statement on Friday condemning Israel’s decision to authorise 34 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, a record number to be approved by the cabinet at once. The statement, issued by EU spokesperson for foreign affairs Anouar El Anouni, said this was “illegal under international law and severely undermines prospects for peace” in the region. “We equally condemn the continued and growing settler violence against Palestinian civilians,” which has increased in recent weeks after already reaching record highs over 2025.
