Hakan Fidan said Turkey took its first steps to bring Iran and the US back to negotiations after a phone call between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump on 27 January. Middle East Eye previously reported that Erdogan had proposed holding a teleconference between Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
