Ghalibaf says Strait of Hormuz will not return to pre-war status Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has said the administration of the Strait of Hormuz will "never return to the pre-war situation", describing the outcome of negotiations in Switzerland as a significant diplomatic achievement. Speaking during his return flight from Switzerland, Ghalibaf praised Iranian negotiators for securing the lifting of the blockade through diplomacy rather than military action. "If we had wanted to do this by military means, it would naturally have been a war and would have caused damage; but you saw that the blockade was lifted overnight," he said.
