Hamas cofounder Hassan Yousef released from Israeli detention Hassan Yousef, a cofounder and senior leader of Hamas in the occupied West Bank, has been released from Israeli custody, AFP reported, citing his son. Yousef, 71, had been held without trial since October 2023 under administrative detention. A prominent Hamas figure in the West Bank, Yousef helped establish the movement in the 1980s alongside Ahmad Yassine and other Palestinian members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
