Hezbollah calls on Lebanese government to stop offering 'free concessions' to Israel Naim Qassem, the secretary-general of Hezbollah , has called on the Lebanese government to stop giving "free concessions" to Israel ahead of planned negotiations between the two governments in Washington next week. "We will not accept a return to the previous situation, and we call on officials to stop offering free concessions," Qassem said in a written message broadcast on the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV on Thursday. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam instructed security forces to ban the use weapons in Beirut by non-state groups on Thursday amid ongoing efforts by his government and the US to disarm Hezbollah .
