Iran accuses US of ‘blatant violation’ of peace deal
Iran accuses US of ‘blatant violation’ of peace deal Iran has denounced the United States for its “blatant violation” of the peace deal to end hostilities in the region on Saturday after a series of American strikes hit the country following an alleged drone attack from Iran on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. “These brutal attacks, which targeted Iranian coastal surveillance facilities, are a blatant violation” of the Memorandum of Understanding and the UN Charter, the Iranian foreign ministry said in a statement. The ministry reaffirmed Iran’s right to self-defence and said its armed forces carried out retaliatory attacks on US targets.
