Iran and Oman to charge shipping fees in Hormuz As the French president told reporters that Paris “will do everything” to ensure there is no toll on shipping through Hormuz, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that fees will be charged for ships traversing the Strait. Transit fees on shipping passing through the vital waterway is a red line for European leaders. While France and Britain plan a multinational naval mission to safeguard shipping through the Strait of Hormuz if the US-Iran ceasefire holds, Tehran strongly opposes any foreign military presence.
