Iran rejects US-backed UN resolution on Strait of Hormuz
Iran rejects US-backed UN resolution on Strait of Hormuz Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, sharply criticised a US-backed draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council concerning the Strait of Hormuz. Writing on X, Gharibabadi accused Washington of attempting to “shift the terms of the issue” by turning the consequences of what he described as military aggression and an illegal siege into a case against Iran. Gharibabadi said invoking “freedom of navigation” while ignoring the role of the United States and Israel in creating the crisis stripped the initiative of legal and moral credibility.
