Iran resisting US pressure over Hormuz routes, analyst says Abas Aslani, a senior research fellow at the Center for Middle East Strategic Studies, said the United States and Iran are advancing competing visions for the future operation of the Strait of Hormuz following the recent US-Iran agreement. Speaking to Al Jazeera, Aslani said Tehran believes Washington is violating the memorandum of understanding by seeking alternative transit corridors rather than routes agreed under the deal. He said Iran is working with Oman and other regional countries on new arrangements and remains opposed to restoring the pre-war status quo.
