Iran says it controls Strait of Hormuz: Report Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it has taken control of the Strait of Hormuz, warning that ships moving through the strategic waterway could face missile or drone attacks. The strait - one of the world’s most critical routes for oil and gas shipments - has become a focal point of the conflict following the US-Israeli war on Iran. “Currently, the Strait of Hormuz is under the complete control of the Islamic Republic's Navy,” said Mohammad Akbarzadeh, an official in the naval arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in a statement carried by Fars News Agency.
