Iranian military ‘strongly’ denies US claim two ships passed through Hormuz A spokesperson from the Iranian military’s headquarters has “strongly denied” the claim by the US Central Commander that US warships had transited through the Strait of Hormuz, Al Jazeera reports. “The initiative for the passage and movement of any vessel is in the hands of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the statement said. CENTCOM reported earlier on Saturday that two US vessels had passed through the channel in order to remove sea mines laid by Iran.
