Israeli army says forces crossed Litani River in large-scale military offensive The Israeli military said it has begun a “large-scale operation” in the Shaqif Heights and Saluki Valley areas of southern Lebanon, describing the campaign as an effort to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure and “eliminate militants” while expanding its control of the area. An Israeli military spokesperson said the operation began several days ago under the command of the 36th Division and with support from military intelligence. “Our forces crossed the Litani River and expanded their attacks against Hezbollah to the north of the river, while operations are currently expanding into additional areas,” the spokesperson said.
