Lebanese president: Israeli attacks on infrastructure is 'collective punishment' Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has said that Israel's attacks on key infrastructure in southern Lebanon, such as a recent strike on the Qasmiyeh Bridge across the Litani River, constitute a "policy of collective punishment and expansion". He said the attacks are part of a broader project of systematic destruction of infrastructure, civilian facilities and residential areas in Lebanese villages, in violation of international humanitarian law. Aoun added that the targeting of the Litani bridges in particular, which form key crossings linking southern Lebanon with the rest of country, hinders humanitarian access and forms part of a project to solidify Israeli control over the territory.
