Lebanon prime minister condemns Israeli ‘scorched-earth policy’ Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has accused Israel of pursuing a “scorched-earth policy” in southern Lebanon as Israeli strikes intensified and fresh evacuation orders forced more civilians from their homes. Speaking in a televised address, Salam said Israel was carrying out “collective punishment” by “destroying towns and villages, and forcing their inhabitants into exile”, warning that such actions would bring “neither security nor stability” to Israel. His comments came as Israeli attacks continued across southern Lebanon, with the Lebanese army reporting that two soldiers were seriously wounded in an Israeli drone strike near Nabatieh.
