Low-cost airlines in US push for government support on fuel costs US budget airlines are seeking $2. 5bn in government aid to offset rising fuel costs, with their trade group, the Association of Value Airlines, urging the United States administration to provide “temporary government support”. The group said smaller carriers are being hit hardest by higher jet fuel prices despite carrying more than 90 million passengers last year.
