Netanyahu: Israel will begin negotiations with Lebanon to demilitarise Beirut Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel has begun direct negotiations with Lebanon which will focus on disarming Hezbollah and establish peace with Lebanon, according to a statement posted to X. “In light of Lebanon’s repeated calls to open direct negotiations with Israel, I instructed the Cabinet yesterday to begin direct negotiations with Lebanon as soon as possible,” the statement said. “The negotiations will focus on disarming Hezbollah and establishing peaceful relations between Israel and Lebanon.
