Oil spill spotted near Iran export terminal on Kharg Island, AP reports The United States Department of War has declined to comment on reports of a possible recent strike near Iran’s Kharg Island, the country’s main oil export terminal, according to Associated Press. Satellite imagery reviewed by the agency showed an oil spill near the island earlier this week, before the latest round of US strikes on Iranian vessels and coastal targets on Thursday and early Friday. The oil slick was first detected on Tuesday in waters off Kharg Island and had expanded to about 71 square kilometres by Friday, AP reported, citing maritime intelligence firm Windward AI.
