Oman and Iran propose temporary shipping lane through Strait of Hormuz Oman and Iran have agreed on a proposed framework to resume safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz that includes establishing a joint temporary shipping lane and a mine-clearing project in the waterway, they said in a joint statement on Tuesday. "The two Ministers discussed a phased framework" that includes "the establishment of a joint temporary navigational corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and an agreement to implement a joint project to clear the Strait of mines", the statement said, adding that technical negotiations for a permanent solution would continue.
