Pakistan says holding 'detailed discussions' with leaders in Iran and Gulf Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has held “detailed discussions” with leaders in Iran and Gulf countries as part of efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote peace in the Middle East. Speaking in a televised national address, Sharif said Islamabad was pursuing diplomacy alongside measures to protect its economy from rising global oil prices. “To end this war, Pakistan is making full and sincere efforts at the diplomatic level to mediate,” Sharif said, adding that the aim was to shield the region and “brotherly Islamic countries” from the consequences of the conflict.
