Report outlines phased US Iran framework to end conflict New diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran are focused on reaching a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war and restoring maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz while broader negotiations continue, according to Reuters. The proposed framework would reportedly unfold in three stages: formally ending hostilities, resolving the crisis surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and opening a 30-day period for wider negotiations on long-term issues. US media reports said Washington’s proposed 14-point plan would require Iran to commit not to develop nuclear weapons, suspend uranium enrichment for at least 12 years and surrender approximately 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent.
