Syria closes border crossing after Israeli threat Syria has closed the Jdeidet Yabous border crossing following an Israeli threat to carry out raids on the Lebanese side of the crossing, a Syrian official said on Sunday. Mazen Alloush, director of relations at Syria’s General Authority for Ports and Customs, said the crossing is used exclusively for civilian movement and “does not serve any military purpose". The closure follows warnings of potential Israeli strikes near border infrastructure in the area, according to Syrian authorities.
