The UK sanctions should target activity 'supporting or maintaining' settlements, Tayab Ali says
The UK sanctions should target activity 'supporting or maintaining' settlements, Tayab Ali says Tayab Ali, Director of the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians, tells MEE’s Imran Mulla that the upcoming ban on trade with illegal Israeli settlements, expected to be announced on Tuesday by UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, will have a ‘profound impact’ on Israel. The ban is expected to bring the UK into compliance with the International Court of Justice’s July 2024 advisory opinion, Whitehall sources told MEE. The ICJ opinion declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory unlawful and said states, including the UK, were obligated to take steps to oppose it.
