Trump said that he was extending the ceasefire at the request of Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif because Iran's government was "seriously fractured" and needed time to present a "unified proposal". "I have therefore directed our military to continue the blockade… and will therefore extend the ceasefire until such a time as their proposal is submitted," Trump said in a statement released by the White House.
