UK defence secretary says US remains key ally amid criticism British Defence Secretary John Healey said the United States remains a close ally despite criticism from his American counterpart over the UK’s military presence in the Middle East. Speaking in Qatar, Healey said the US and UK share a unique defence and intelligence partnership and stressed that Britain is working to protect its people, bases and allies during the US-Israeli war on Iran.
