During this telephone conversation, IRNA reported, the two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. Iranian Ambassador to the UN Amir-Saeid Iravani said on Thursday that US military bases in the Gulf states have brought “nothing but instability” to the region, in remarks delivered during an emergency session of the Security Council.
