UNICEF says humanitarian aid ‘critical’ in southern Lebanon UNICEF official Elias Diab has reiterated calls for a ceasefire, saying that hospitals in “hard-to-reach” areas of southern Lebanon are “cut off” from the rest of the country, making humanitarian convoys “critical to sustain people”. “UNICEF teams are on the ground, delivering life-saving medical supplies, safe water, hygiene kits, and baby kits to support overwhelmed health facilities and families living in isolation,” the Lebanon branch wrote in a post to X. The statement called for hospitals, children and communities to be protected, claiming that aid “is not enough”.
