US deploys third aircraft carrier to Middle East, Centcom says The US has sent a third aircraft carrier to the Mena region, in a further show of military force as tensions escalate. US Central Command said the USS George HW Bush has entered its area of responsibility, sharing an image of the carrier operating in the Indian Ocean. Two other carriers - the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald R Ford - are already deployed in the region.
