US senators demand hearing over toll on troops amid war on Iran A group of 12 US senators have called for a congressional hearing into the toll the war on Iran is taking on troops, amid "poor planning and mismanagement of extended deployments". In the letter, led by Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth, the lawmakers wrote to committee chairman Roger Wicker requesting a public hearing with Defense Department leadership regarding the poor management across naval ships and regional bases. The senators underlined "dwindling supplies and deteriorating conditions onboard numerous ships and across bases in the region" and accused military leadership of a "systemic failure of planning and adaptation".
